MSRC President's Goals 2002

Presidents Message

This year the M.S.R.C. will continue to function as an organization, to provide respiratory therapist throughout the state with up to date educational services, and information about the changing world of respiratory care around us.

This year 2002 the M.S.R.C. goals will be

1) Improve Communication within the M.S.R.C. and also among it members.

The M.S.R.C. has a number of avenues in which to communicate to its members. Our website is up and running. MSRCOL.ORG. The website has many links to other state societies, government organizations, and educational offerings. Our Society has a phone number and address that can be accessed by all respiratory care practitioners.

Mass Society for respiratory Care

P.O. Box 685 Beverly, MA 01915-0010

This year the society will have three issues of Pneumonics (The M.S.R.C. newsletter) out to our members. These issues will contain up to date information about the goings on within our society

It is our goal this year to keep the systems for communication operational and readily accessible to all of our members.

2) Increase Membership within the M.S.R.C. and the A.A.R.C.

As it stands now, the number of therapist practicing in Massachusetts who are not active A.A.R.C. members is staggeringly high. The M.S.R.C. as an organization must focus on turning this around. The A.A.R.C is our national foundation. To be strong in any endeavor we must have the numbers to support the society on a state and national level.

3) To become more politically active

In the ever-changing world of medicine, the M.S.R.C. needs to become increasingly more politically active in order to protect the interests of Respiratory Care Practitioners both within our state and on a national level. We can no longer afford to go unrecognized as important members or the healthcare team. With all the cutbacks and changes in the heath care on a government level. It is all too easy to be overlooked. Here is we need to stand up and be counted, otherwise we all could suffer the consequences.

It is my hope that this year the M.S.R.C. will be stronger than it has ever been. That the M.S.R.C. Will strive to meet the goals of this coming year. Our society has always been a fantastic and growing entity. I would like to also point out that there is a large group of people throughout this Organization who provide service in the M.S.R.C. on a totally volunteer basis. There are hours upon on hours of work that is done to make sure this organization runs as smoothly as possible. The people behind the scenes often work tirelessly without compensation to see that the functions and the goals of the M.S.R.C are met. It is a substantial sacrifice that these individuals make. To that end I think it important to commend all of those involved within the M.S.R.C. for their time and effort. Without the voluntary contributions that these individuals make the M.S.R.C. would not be a functioning organization.
