AARC Accomplishments of Note:
* MUSE study - phenomenal outcomes to support using
RT's in SNF's -
> Medicare $$ were reallocated for respiratory
therapies because of
this
> study.
> * Indiana study - from the AARC million $ research
fund - compares
> curriculm hours in respiratory modalities for RN's,
LPN's and RT's.
Good
> hard data to support the use of RT's to deliver
respiratory therapy
and
not
> using unlicensed assistive personal as substitutes.
> * Officer status for RT's in the public sector of
the military - big
> job still in the workings but looking very positive.
This was
tremendous
> work done by an AARC special committee - again - big
benefit to every
RT
in
> that military position - not just AARC members.
> * Index Medicus status for our trade journals - talk
about getting
the
> word out about RT as a profession and the AARC -
this is huge among
the
> medical community. This didn't happen on it's own -
many, many
contacts
and
> hours of work over many years by the EO of the AARC
and our AARC
physician
> alliances.
> * Position statements for Pulmonary Rehab, Protocols
etc. - these are
> prompted by and many times drafted by the AARC for
the physician
groups to
> ratify - again, wouldn't happen if the AARC didn't
do all the ground
work.
