Massachusetts Society for Respiratory Care Board of Directors meeting minutes April 21, 2005

Attendance	Present: Stella Farquharson, Michael Jackson, Ken Volovick, Laura Lusky, Bill Goding, Farquharson,  Madeline McCallum, Joe Higgins, John Nunes, Scott Munroe
Call to order	The meeting was called to order by President Stella Farquharson
Minutes	The minutes of the March 2005 meeting were accepted without corrections.
Treasurer	Ken Volovick reviewed the MSRC balance sheet. The idea of setting aside money for buying Red Sox tickets to raffle off at the convention was debated without resolution.
Delegates	No report
Membership	Stella notes that Gina Farquharson continues to work with Laura Lusky on a membership drive.
Nominations	Scott Munroe is accepting nominations. Current nominations include: Ken Volovick for Treasurer Laura Lusky for President-Elect Lauren Perlman for Vice President John Nunes for Secretary.
Program & Education	Laura Lusky presented Julie Griffin will run the ALA walk coordination The board decided unanimously to prohibit alcoholic beverages from the contestant’s table.
Scholarships	Michael Jackson presented We will communicate with the decision making committee how to allot awards. Recommend conference call for committee members to speak at BOD meeting. Bill Goding suggests asking Paul Nuccio to look at new scholarship categorization. Giving money to each school to distribute MSRC sponsor a luncheon for RT Education Program heads to get their input on restructuring. Madelline recommends money be set aside for RTs who want to take an Asthma Certificate program (non-degree)

PACT	Michael notes that there is need to complete implementation of the AARC’s 435 plan. Ken recommends learning how our PACT complies with 501C6 IRS language for lobbying.

Rehab.	Valerie Bolduc is working on a pulmonary rehab group – AACVPR. Check with http://www.aacvpr for state info.
Budget & Audit	Ken Volovick has designed a reimbursement form for BOD and P&E uses.
Chapter Affairs	no report
By Laws	By Laws are posted on the MSRCOL.ORG website. The AARC must approve this version.
Webpage	Meeting postings for all groups may require BOD approval Michael recommends using on-line voting for timely BOD webpage decisions.
Old Business	MSRC Contract with the AARC remains a concern.
New Business	Try the new phone system out says Bill Goding.
AARC	AARC State disaster chairs may need a Massachusetts representative. Nominations are being accepted for outstanding AARC State affiliate award.
